There are two aspects to the progress of rubber processing in rubber technology and equipment. On the one hand, the traditional process and its equipment are improving day by day; on the other hand, the development of non-traditional new concept technology.
Rubber compounding, calendering, extrusion, forming and vulcanization are five basic processes. Modern equipment and tooling have made great progress. Now the main equipment for mixing is the internal mixer, which has reached a relatively high level of automation due to the configuration of the upper and lower auxiliary machines and the control of the microcomputer.
Since the 1980s, cold feed extruders have become mainstream, hot feed extruders have been used to reduce them; vacuum cold feed extruders have been superior, and they have made the extruded semi-finished products free of pores and dense. It is the third generation extruder. The screw is the main component in the extruder, and the pin screw has become the mainstream.
Development of rubber vulcanization media
In terms of vulcanization medium, nitrogen is further popularized as a vulcanization medium. It is said that nitrogen vulcanization can double the life of the capsule and save steam by 80%. It has been widely used in vulcanized tires for nearly ten years. For the vulcanization equipment of tires, more than 60% of the global radial tires have been hydraulic vulcanizers.
